What are Peptides?
Proteins are essentially large molecules made up of ‘individual building blocks’ called amino acids. The Gastro-Intestinal tract breaks down these protein strings into more manageable short chains known as peptides to make protein more digestible.
The shorter the peptide chain, the more digestible it is, and the less likely it is to cause allergic responses in animals.
With Peptide+, we have taken our Freshtrusion® technology and used a technique called ‘enzymatic hydrolysis’, which mimics the natural breakdown in the digestive system to ‘predigest’ the protein into optimally sized peptides.
The Goldilocks Principle
It has been proven in research studies that the ideal digestibility and absorption rates occur in small-chain peptides. Intact protein can be described as ‘too much’, and individual amino acids ‘too little’. However, small chain peptides are just right. You may even call these ‘perfect peptides’.
